This should be a concern for individuals as well as business owners. With so many storing their pics on disks what would they do should a fire or flood damage their computer and backed up external drive. Off site is important for things that matter to you.

You have some good, practical advice here. I think your solutions are great, especially for users who don't have a huge amount of data. In medium to large companies, this isn't practical. At some point it's worth it to pay a courier to come pick up the backed up data and transport to the offsite location each day.

Totally good points. Sometimes once a week is enough for offsite backups :)

I didn't think my backup system was extreme. ;-) I don't do the drive exchange to the bank daily - once a week is enough for me.

Online backups are great - but unwieldy if you're trying to back up hundreds of gigs, or in my case, a pile of terabyte drives (who would want to download 10 TB - even over a fast connection?).
